Fault tree construction of hybrid system requirements using qualitative formal method

چکیده
When specifying requirements for software controlling hybrid systems and conducting safety analysis, engineers experience that requirements are often known only in qualitative terms and that existing fault tree analysis techniques provide little guidance on formulating and evaluating potential failure modes. In this paper, we propose Causal Requirements Safety Analysis (CRSA) as a technique to qualitatively evaluate causal relationship between software faults and physical hazards. This technique, extending qualitative formal method process and utilizing information captured in the state trajectory, provides specific guidelines on how to identify failure modes and relationship among them. Using a simplified electrical power system as an example, we describe step-by-step procedures of conducting CRSA. Our experience of applying CRSA to perform fault tree analysis on requirements for the Wolsong nuclear power plant shutdown system indicates that CRSA is an effective technique in assisting safety engineers. q 2004 Elsevier Ltd. Safety risk study on road transportation of hazardous chemicals is a reliable basis for the government to formulate transportation planning and preparing emergent schemes, but also is an important reference for safety risk managers to carry out dangerous chemicals safety risk managers. Based on the analysis of the transport safety risk of dangerous chemicals at home and abroad, this paper studi...
متن کاملFault Detection and Classification in Double-Circuit Transmission Line in Presence of TCSC Using Hybrid Intelligent Method
In this paper, an effective method for fault detection and classification in a double-circuit transmission line compensated with TCSC is proposed. The mutual coupling of parallel transmission lines and presence of TCSC affect the frequency content of the input signal of a distance relay and hence fault detection and fault classification face some challenges. One of the most effective methods fo...
متن کاملFormal fault tree construction and system safety analysis
Fault Tree Analysis is a traditional deductive safety analysis technique that is applied during the system design stage. However, traditional fault trees often suffer from a lack of formal semantics to check the correctness or consistency of the descriptions. This is especially a problem in safety-critical system analysis. To overcome this limitation, we propose a novel formal fault tree constr...
متن کاملQualitative and quantitative approaches to analyse reliability of a mechatronic system: a case
The main research intent of this paper is to introduce the use of fault tree analysis (FTA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) in conjunction to analyse the risk and reliability of a complex mechatronic system in both qualitative and quantitative manner. The major focus is on handling imprecise and vague information with the help of fuzzy synthesis of information. A complex mechatroni...
متن کاملRemenyte-Prescott, Rasa and Andrews, John (2009) An efficient real-time method of analysis for non-coherent fault trees. Quality and Reliability Engineering
Fault tree analysis is commonly used to assess the reliability of potentially hazardous industrial systems. The type of logic is usually restricted to AND and OR gates which makes the fault tree structure coherent. In non-coherent structures not only components’ failures but also components’ working states contribute to the failure of the system. The qualitative and quantitative analyses of suc...
